Dr Ariyo Andrew Tobi attended Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, Nigeria, where he obtained the degree of Bachelor of  Science in Political Science in 1992. He received the degree of Master of Science in Political Science (Public Administration-) and PhD from the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 1995 and 2013, respectively. He is a fellow of The Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria and currently, a Reader at the Department of Public Administration, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye

He has held various positions at the Olabisi Onabanjo University such as Departmental Examinations Officer, Departmental Coordinator of Part-Time Programmes, Faculty Coordinator of General Studies (GNS), Sub-Dean, Faculty of The Social  Sciences and Sub Dean, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences. He has equally acted as the Head of the following Departments at Olabisi Onabanjo University:  Political Science, Public Administration, and Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. He was appointed the Director of Management Support Services at the Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona  Institute for Governance Studies in May 2022.

He was one of the recipients of the Young Laureate  Award of the African Association of Political Science for Young Scholars in 2001 and  was part of the team ’Building Partnership for Good Governance, a  programme facilitated by the Centre for Human Development, Ikolaba, Ibadan, and supported by OSIWA, Dakar, Senegal, between 2002 and 2004. He was a pioneer member of the Board of Trustees, Oba(Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona Professorial Chair in Governance. Dr Tobi also served as a member of the Editorial Team of the Ago-Iwoye Journal of Social and Behavioural Sciences and recently co-edited ‘Grassroots Governance and Development in Southwestern Nigeria. Exploring Alternatives Paths to growth and Development with Professor Ayo Olukotun and Dr Adebayo Salami.

He has published widely in areas of his research interest: Governance, globalisation, public policy and political decentralisation.
